NEW COLEMAN-MACH™ SOFT START KIT REDUCES AC INITIAL LOADS

Jun 3, 2022-- When AC compressors start up, they require a large power draw. If that electricity is from a generator, inverter or another low-amperage source it can cause a fault, overload the system or place extra strain on batteries. The new COLEMAN-MACH™ soft start kit can be easily installed on existing COLEMAN-MACH ACs and reduces compressor starting amps up to 75% to improve energy efficiency and protect against premature degradation of components.

COLEMAN-MACH product experts engineered the pioneering soft start kit exclusively for use with its line of premium air conditioners. Compact and ready for installation right out of the box, it mounts easily inside existing AC units, without impacting the exterior aesthetics of the coach or the validity of the COLEMAN-MACH manufacturer’s warranty. The COLEMAN-MACH soft start kit is best installed by a qualified RV technician.

“As a consummate partner to our aftermarket customers we strive to design products that elevate the RV experience not just in terms of comfort but also efficiency,” explained David Gehlen, product manager for COLEMAN-MACH. “This includes expanding our line of RV efficiency products so current RV owners can easily enhance the performance of their AC unit without sacrificing comfort, aesthetics or cooling power.”

When retrofitted within an existing AC unit, the addition of a soft start will improve start-up performance, letting RV enthusiasts enjoy the comfort of a COLEMAN-MACH air conditioner while off-grid, using generator power, when only 30A park service is available or when running more than one AC unit. The COLEMAN-MACH soft start kit is also particularly useful in air conditioners for overland vehicles with a small generator and for builders expanding into electric vehicles.

“We kept the dynamic growth and interest in the EV market in mind when designing the COLEMAN-MACH soft start kit,” said Gehlen. “AC units with a soft start installed are ideal when powering COLEMAN-MACH air conditioners with lithium battery packs used in recreational vehicles and EV applications. At COLEMAN-MACH we want to support RVers on the road now and help to push the development of energy efficient vehicle design in the RV industry.”
